The growth of Web Industry blooming constantly day after day with the ability to stream and webcast any live events to virtual viewers anywhere across the world. With the advancement in technology, live streaming is providing users with reliable and interactive media content. Here is a brief discussion on the work process of Live Video Streaming.
There are four main steps that are carried throughout the process of Media Streaming
Input
Input is what the raw footage that is shot with either your camera or webcam from the desired location. The resolution could be a desired choice depending on the user’s interest. The quality of the resolution implies the bitrate, the average bitrate varies from 15 to 20 Mbps for 1920X1080. Bitrate is nothing but the rate of bits that are transferred within the given amount of time. It is generally measured in bps (bits per second) it could be kbps (Kilobits per second) or Mbps (Megabits per second). The quality of the video is always proportional to the bitrate.
Conversion
The data recorded is transmitted as analog signals. As computers take only binary information which is nothing but digital format, there has to be a conversion of data from analog to digital. This is where we use analog to digital converter or ADC which makes the conversion. During this process there will be a loss of resolution and bitrate depending on the characteristics of the ADC converter.
Media Server
Media Server is no longer a simple streaming server, it now packages video files to various formats and integrates peer to peer and real time communication and enables media delivery to desktops or devices with either android or iOS. All of this is possible through powerful server software. There are lots of inherent benefits to stream videos with media server.
Output
When the user visits the Web page hosted on the Web server, by simply clicking on the link the data is retrieved from the media server onto their devices. The resolution depends on the type of device the user has with a bit rate of 500 kbps.
